jennifer-shilling-family“Hi, I’m State Senator Jennifer Shilling.

“In the wake of the latest school shooting, a lot of parents and students have been asking: “Why isn’t more being done to improve school safety in Wisconsin? What can we do to keep guns out of the wrong hands and prevent future tragedies?”

“Like the vast majority of Americans, I support universal background checks to prevent firearms getting into the wrong hands. I also support Democratic legislation to restore local control and allow schools to invest in security upgrades.

“These commonsense proposals have broad support and will go a long way toward improving classroom safety and preventing future tragedies.

“Most people agree that the 2nd Amendment and school safety are not mutually exclusive. We can honor our children and keep them safe while still upholding the Constitution and promoting liberty and freedom.

“By working together, I know that we can strengthen our laws, keep our schools safe, and take significant steps forward to end gun violence.

“Thank you.”
