MADISON – Thursday, Republican members on the Joint Finance Committee announced a planned $4.4 billion worth of tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit millionaires over the biennium. Senate Democratic Leader Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement:

STATEWIDE - We are joined by State Representative Kristina Shelton to discuss the state budget battle in Madison and why she voted in “radical solidarity” against the structurally racist Shared Revenue-Education deal. In more positive news, we look beyond the state budget and discuss Rep. Shelton’s vitally important BadgerCare Public Option bill that will be reintroduced in the Legislature later this year and should be the centerpiece of the Democratic Party’s 2024 election agenda. In a major breakthrough for climate change and racial economic equity, the Milwaukee Climate and Economic Equity Plan passed the City Council this week and will be signed by the mayor on Friday. MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address on the legislation signed earlier this week providing historic shared revenue increases for local communities, including a 20 percent increase in support to most municipalities statewide. This historic bipartisan compromise also includes more than $1 billion that can be used for our kids in the classroom and increasing the low revenue ceiling by $1,000 per student while continuing to support school-based mental health services and setting aside funding to improve literacy and reading outcomes across Wisconsin. MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address celebrating 2022 economic impact data showing Wisconsin’s tourism industry generated $23.7 billion in total economic impact, surpassing the previous record year of $22.2 billion set in 2019. MADISON - In Tuesday’s floor session, the Assembly voted to pass Senate Bill 330, the companion bill to AB 305 heard in the Assembly Committee on Education yesterday morning. This fast-tracked legislation will drastically increase per pupil funding for voucher and independent charter schools and raise the low revenue limit adjustment.

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address celebrating June as Pride Month in Wisconsin. Last week, the governor was proud to raise the Progress Pride Flag at the State Capitol, which will fly over the East Wing throughout the month of June. Gov. Evers ordered the Rainbow Pride Flag to fly over the East Wing of the Wisconsin State Capitol for the first time in state history in 2019, and a rainbow flag has flown over the Capitol each year since during the month of June.
