MADISON - State Senator Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) signed on to a letter this week to Republican leadership calling on Assembly Speaker Vos and Senate Majority Leader Fitzgerald to immediately convene the legislature to address the many problems facing Wisconsin families due to the COVID-19 crisis.

dave-hansen-seniorcare“The damage being done to communities across the state by the spread of COVID-19 is inescapable. Governor Evers and his administration are doing all they can to deal with the health and economic damage caused by the pandemic, but there are many actions only the Legislature can take. This is an unparalleled public health and economic crisis. Time is of the essence. We need to act now before it’s too late.”

The letter lays out a series of proposals that would give relief to Wisconsin families and businesses during these challenging times. The priorities laid out in the letter suport the robust legislative package Governor Evers’ has proposed including provisions on health care, unemployment insurance, housing, education, elections, and more.

“The people of Wisconsin want to see us working together to do everything possible to manage this crisis and provide the support for those whose lives have been upended by this terrible disease. We need to come together for all the people and we need to do it now. The legislature must take action immediately to attend to the urgent needs of the people of our state. ”
