http://newiprogressive.com/images/stories/S5/menards2-wi-s5.jpg GREEN BAY, WI - State Senator Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) praised Governor Evers for announcing that he will include a provision to close the Dark Stores Loophole in his budget:
“A lot of politicians in the Legislature, including the bill’s author, touted their support last year for closing the Dark Stores Loophole that currently allows corporate big box stores to shift their share of property taxes onto homeowners. We know their promises were hollow after they allowed the session to end without taking a single step toward closing the loophole. Their failure has given these big corporate stores even more time to weasel out of paying their fair share of property taxes.
“It is refreshing to see a Governor who understands that the role of state government is to work for all the people, not just the privileged few. It is time for Republicans in the Legislature to put the people of this state first for a change and work with Governor Evers to protect homeowners from this blatant attempt by corporate retailers to avoid paying their fair share of property taxes.” |
