Upon further review, he’s wrong. According to Placer.ai, an industry-leading location analytics firm, the Green Bay Draft received an influx of 312,000 unique visitors, compared to Detroit’s 238,900, which equates to a 31% increase.
The NFL’s attendance numbers are an accurate representation of the number of “turnstile passes” witnessed at each event, but measuring the number of unique visitors gives a better sense of the number of visitors and the resulting economic impact. Put another way, Placer.ai doesn’t count the same person multiple times for each return trip to the Draft footprint. Genrich continued, “As one of the handful of teams never to have won a Super Bowl, the Lions are understandably looking for wins where they can find them, but it appears they came up a little short again. Best of luck to them next time.” Placer.ai is used by a variety of visitors’ bureaus, corporations, business districts, and municipalities across the globe and is widely regarded as a leading platform for approximating event and location attendance. “As home to the 13-time NFL champion Green Bay Packers, our City has a culture of winning that pervades the community. We welcome the rivalry with our friends in Detroit, and we’re proud to have bested them with visitor attendance at our Draft, but I think we can both agree that the Bears still suck,” Genrich concluded. The NFL Draft heads to Pittsburgh in 2026, where they are sure to set a Yinzer attendance record. |
