evers-sos-2025MADISON, Wis – Gov. Tony Evers delivered his seventh State of the State address Wednesday night highlighting the Evers Administration successes over the past year. Representative Lori Palmeri (D- Oshkosh) released the following statement regarding the address:

“I was proud to stand alongside Gov. Evers as he outlined how we addressed bolstering our state’s workforce in the past year while continuing to re-build a post pandemic economy that works for people in our region and throughout Wisconsin.”

lori-palmeri-sos-12225“Going forward, our plans for legislation include helping lower every day, out-of-pocket costs, preventing gun violence to keep our kids and communities safe, and continuing to reduce state and local tax burdens”.

A new public policy forum report says Wisconsin’s state and local tax burden dropped to a record low in 2024.

“The state and local taxes Wisconsinites pay as a share of their income is the lowest it has been in over half a century and that’s good news!”

In his address the Governor noted his concern as a grandparent in the mental health crisis we are seeing in Wisconsin children.

“As a grandparent myself the Governor’s comments resonated with me and I am so pleased that our budget proposal includes investing nearly $300 million to provide comprehensive mental health services in schools statewide, including support for peer-to-peer suicide prevention programs.”

A bi-partisan bill Rep.Palmeri co-sponsored last year to expand our child and dependent child care credit also goes into effect this year. Parents and families can use the credit on this year’s taxes when filing this year.

“As the Governor mentioned in his address, the average benefit is over $650 per filer, more good news for our families.”
