September 16 update from the Kristin Lyerly for Congress campaign. GREEN BAY - Welcome back to another Movement Monday, our weekly update email sharing the important work Dr. Lyerly is doing for the people of northeast Wisconsin. As a 6th generation Wisconsinite who was born and raised in the district, Kristin understands that there’s more that unites us than divides us. She’s the mom of four sons who is committed to building a brighter tomorrow for future generations, creating an economy that works for everyone, and ensuring that we all have the freedom to make our own personal healthcare decisions. Here’s the “good trouble” that Dr. Lyerly and her campaign were up to to last week: Outagamie Democrats Early Monday evening, Dr. Lyerly, AD2 candidate Alicia Saunders, and AD56 candidate Emily Tseffos joined the Outagamie Dems over hot dogs and delicious fixings to chat about the important work we’re doing together in Outagamie County. Listening Session Dr. Lyerly and AD88 candidate Christy Welch held a listening session with undecided voters at Hinterland Brewing in Green Bay to hear concerns and find common ground - there’s a lot of it! Indiana Section, ACOG Dr. Lyerly, who is deeply involved with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, visited with members of the Indiana section to talk about physician advocacy and how doctors can fight back against political interference in the practice of medicine. Jen Schultz for MN08! Kristin and Jen, both candidates for the 8th district of their respective states, visited with folks up on the storied Iron Range, hearing that healthcare, the economy, and climate change are top of mind for these folks. Bonus points: Kristin even met a gentleman with deep roots in Ephraim who commented on all of the “Lyerly” yard signs he saw while visiting over the weekend, demonstrating how small the world really is. Women’s Reproductive Healthcare Crisis Accompanied by state leaders including Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski, Congressman Mark Pocan, Senator Kelda Roys, and Planned Parenthood attorney Michelle Velasquez, Dr. Lyerly spoke to the Sauk County Democrats, sharing stories and answering questions about the current reproductive health landscape in Wisconsin and our hopes for November (and beyond)! Latino Festival Madeleine, our manager, showed up to the Latino Festival at UWGB’s campus to talk with the community about the campaign and how Dr. Lyerly will support Green Bay’s Latino community both locally and in Congress, an extension of the work she has already been doing. Brotherton Tribe Wisconsin has 12 Native American tribes, but one is not officially recognized…yet. Dr. Lyerly met with members of the Brotherton Tribal Council to discuss restoration, which will literally take an Act of Congress. Wondering Who Writes These Things? Hi!
