MADISON, Wis. — Last week, Assembly Democratic Leader Greta Neubauer sat down with Dan Shafer on “The Recombobulation Area” podcast to share Democrats’ path to the majority in the state Assembly and highlight enthusiasm from around the state to elect Democrats to the State Legislature this November. This month, Wisconsin Democrats launched the Democratic Starting Lineup, a game plan to win back majorities in Madison by flipping seats across the state under fair maps this November. Thanks to our new maps, voters across Wisconsin will finally have a real choice who represents them in Madison—and Republican politicians in Madison are finally facing accountability at the ballot box.
Assembly Leader Neubauer: “Republicans in Wisconsin, particularly in the Legislature, got used to being able to compete on an unfair playing field. They talk about how they have great candidates, but we're going to see how their candidates stack up in actually fair districts. And they also changes the rules for funding candidates so that they would be able to accept unlimited contributions from individual donors, so that they would be able to outraise and outspend Democrats, many of whom were funding their campaigns with grassroots work. They are now experiencing the Democratic Party being able to counter them and being able to push back [...] to actually compete in every way that Republicans have for a number of years, and so it's just a very exciting moment, of course, for us to see all of the work (pay off).” |
