vote-early-milwCommunity and voting rights groups and voters march/caravan from MATC Downtown Campus to Zeidler Municipal Building to Vote "No” on the two constitutional amendments on the August ballot.

MILWAUKEE, WI – To kick of the first day of early voting, local community and voting rights groups – including the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, Souls to the Polls, Power to the Polls, SEIU Wisconsin, Wisconsin Working Families Party, the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, EXPO Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Interfaith Voter Engagement Campaign, and the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort Educational Fund –  will host a press conference and march/caravan to the polls to “Vote No” on the two constitutional amendments on the August 13th statewide ballot. Community leaders and voters will speak on the importance of voting “no” to maintain checks and balances in our state legislature, and to protect the funding of vital programs that are likely to be at risk – such as housing, education, and child care programs – should the amendments pass.

Following the march/caravan to the polls, the above groups are set to host a volunteer-powered “GOTV Day of Action” at MATC to educate and empower Milwaukee voters. The Day of Action includes volunteer breakout sessions featuring postcard/letter writing, phone banking, and text banking. Local Milwaukee rap artist Wave Chapelle speaks to voters about the importance of protecting democracy in every election.
