MADISON – Today, the Senate took up Assembly Bill 415, which alters Wisconsin’s redistricting process. State Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison) released the following statement: “Republicans have seen the writing on the wall for the better part of the last year that their days of unchecked power are limited. This is a truly last-minute attempt to cling to their undemocratic majority. “As policymakers, the best interests of our constituents must always be the frame we look through when vetting policies, bills and every piece of our work. It is clear that is not how the Republicans in the Wisconsin State Senate are conducting themselves. They are clearly breaking the process and harming democracy in Wisconsin. “We cannot trust those who cheat to set the rules, especially with a track record that proves the GOP will do nothing unless it benefits them directly. They ignore the values of the majority session after session with yet another gerrymandered map.” |
