A written transcript of the address is below:

"Hi, I’m State Senator Lena Taylor with this week’s Democratic Radio Address.

"Now is the time to act. I believe that the safety of our children in our state should be a top priority. Unfortunately, years of budget cuts and staff shortages have created dangerous conditions for children and staff in our state’s correctional facilities.

"After more than four years of allegations of child abuse, assaults and worsening safety conditions, it’s time for Gov. Walker and Republican legislators to join Democrats in addressing this crisis. The time is now. Every person, staff and kids yes, even kids in corrections are human and deserve a safe place. I’ve met with the staff, children and families affected by the Republican neglect.

"The Legislature should act now. Together, we can reform corrections to keep our kids, staff and communities safe. Thank you.”
