LEDGEVIEW — Dr. Kristin Lyerly’s 88th Assembly district campaign raised $40,234.09 in the period ending June 30, a resounding success for a new-to-politics candidate who didn’t officially enter the race until May 12.

The strong start positions Lyerly, a Wisconsin native and practicing OB/GYN, to be a serious contender for the 88th district seat currently held by third-term incumbent John Macco.

“From the beginning, our campaign has been all about energy, excitement, and the promise of bringing real, fundamental change to Northeast Wisconsin and the Badger State as a whole,” said Kristin for Wisconsin Campaign Manager Abraham Lyerly. “These incredible fundraising totals show that our communities are hungry for change, especially at a time when so much is at stake in terms of our lives, our livelihoods, and our collective desire to cultivate a better tomorrow.”

kristin-lyerlymdA natural leader and a fierce advocate for women and families, Dr. Lyerly’s local and state leadership experience had led her to consider running for office a few years down the line. But when the state of Wisconsin sent voters to the polls in April during a pandemic, she knew the time to act was now.

“We should never have to choose between our health and our ability to exercise a fundamental constitutional right,” Dr. Lyerly said. “I know we need the voice of medicine in Madison – and the incredible response to our campaign shows there are so many people who couldn’t agree more. I am humbled by the tremendous response and excited about the momentum it gives us moving forward.”

Well over 200 individual donors contributed to the Kristin for Wisconsin campaign during the initial fundraising period, reflecting the grassroots support that has been a hallmark of her campaign thus far.

“The 88th is a purple district in a purple state during an election year when the stakes couldn’t be higher,” Abraham Lyerly said. “We know all eyes will be on Northeast Wisconsin come November, and the Kristin for Wisconsin team is committed to affecting the real, lasting change voters in this area are demanding. Stay tuned.”
