MADISON – On Saturday, January 20, Wisconsin State Senator LaTonya Johnson will be joined by State Representatives David Crowley, Leon Young, and Evan Goyke and other community leaders for the 6th Senate District’s first EMPOWER-MKE event. Through EMPOWER-MKE participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to engage with their government to achieve transformational policy reforms that will have a positive impact on Milwaukee.

latonya-johnsonAt the event, participants will have the opportunity to have a meaningful discussion with a Milwaukee Police Department Community Liaison, community prosecutor, the District Attorney Office’s Crisis Response Team, and experts in community organizing. Panels at the event will focus on how government works, what community resources are available to residents and how to organize and advocate for change.

EMPOWER-MKE will also feature informational tables from organizations in the community that provide services and resources in and around the neighborhood.
