kewaunee-harbor-familyCitizen group supports two candidates, a clean energy resolution, and plans a candidate forum for Monday, January 25.

Suamico, WI - So much is happening right now nationally and locally.  After celebrating a huge Dem victory Wednesday morning with the 2nd Senate seat election going to Jon Ossoff and putting Dems in control of the Senate, we were plunged into darkness by afternoon. Thank you to everyone who helped out in Georgia by making calls, donating to campaigns and educating friends and relatives of the importance of winning the Georgia Senate runoff elections. It all helped and we made a huge difference in how we will be governed in the next four years!

While we get things sorted out at the national level, we have lots to do locally.

nick-bonafilia1.       One of our Northern Brown County Neighbors,  Nick Bonafilia entered the race for Village of Suamico Trustee this week!   Nick collected more than enough signatures to qualify, much thanks to Nick’s hard work collecting signatures and NBCN members who signed and circulated nomination papers. For more information about Nick, visit his Facebook page and like/follow  https://www.facebook.com/Nick4Trustee.

A huge thank you goes out to Gracelyn Trast, also a member of NBCN who is helping  out with messaging and fund raising for Nick’s campaign.  Gracelyn currently works as a Digital Strategist at Mothership Strategies.  Mothership Strategies is a progressive Washington, DC digital agency rewriting the playbook for how political and advocacy campaigns are won across the nation.

karl-jaeger2.       Karl Jaeger, who is running for John Nygren’s vacated AD89 seat turned in just under 400 signatures in Madison yesterday!  Marinette, Oconto and Brown County voters really stepped up.  I received, in hand, 49 signatures from NBCN members.  In addition, many NBCN members e-mailed their signed nomination papers directly to Karl.  Thank you Lynn Mitchell and Tyler VanderGaast  for making phone calls to AD89.  Once again NBCN members rallied and we got results!  https://www.jaegerforwisconsin.com/.

Watch for details on a 3-county postcard campaign for Karl in the near future.

3.       Tell Brown County to fix the clean energy resolution.  The Brown County Board of Supervisors will have a full board vote on a clean energy resolution on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.  There is language in the resolution that discourages ALL privately or publicly owned wind energy throughout the county and has an incorrect definition of natural gas as clean energy, even though its greenhouse gas emissions are well documented.   Ray Suennen, District 23 Howard,  (920) 662-1088,  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it is the supervisor responsible for adding the language discouraging wind energy. Please call him or email him to change his position on these 2 topics.

We support modifying the resolution language to encourage wind energy as one of our approaches to sustainable energy.  The wording stating that natural gas is a “clean energy”,  is simply false and should be removed from the resolution.    Please contact your supervisor to voice your opinion about the changes needed to this resolution.   To locate contact information for your BC Supervisor, follow this link:

4.       Candidate Forum.  Our next Northern Brown County Neighbors group meeting will be Monday, January 25 at 7:00.  We will be holding a candidate forum.  Invitations are going out to H-S School Board, Village of Suamico Trustee and Municipal Judge candidates.  We will also be introducing the new Democratic Party of Brown County Chair, Rene Gasch.

Hope to see you all at the meeting January 25.
