 After the last election a shocking number of candidates reneged on their public commitments to protect people with pre-existing conditions.
STATEWIDE - Today Citizen Action of Wisconsin, which brings together health professionals and patients from across the state, called on U.S. Senate candidates Sen. Tammy Baldwin and State Sen. Leah Vukmir to sign a pledge not to repeal or weaken the provisions of the Affordable Care Act outlawing discrimination against people with health conditions.

In the 2016 election many candidates for federal office promised voters they would protect people with pre-existing conditions, but once elected supported legislation which would have repealed or dramatically weakened the anti-discrimination provisions of the ACA.
 “We don’t generally ask candidates to sign pledges, but in this case we think it is essential for voters to have solid information on what the U.S. Senate candidates will actually do if elected to protect people with pre-existing conditions,” said Robert Kraig, Executive Director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin. “After the last election a shocking number of candidates reneged on their public commitments to protect people with pre-existing conditions, threatening the lives and life savings of millions of Americans. Given the critical importance of these protections, the people of Wisconsin have a right to know where the U.S. Senate candidates stand on health care discrimination before they vote in November.”

 Uihlein is spending millions of dollars to buy an election for Kevin Nicholson, because Uihlein wants a U.S. Senator who will work for him, say Dems.
MADISON - Billionaire Dick Uihlein-funded groups have now spent nearly $11 million to buy a U.S. Senate seat for Kevin Nicholson, according to a new report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
 Most recently, a Uihlein-funded group called Solutions for Wisconsin on Wednesday launched a $911,000 TV ad buy attacking Nicholson's primary opponent, Leah Vukmir. That follows a July investment from another Uihlein-bankrolled group called Club for Growth Action Wisconsin, which last month spent more than $2 million on TV ads attacking Vukmir.
 "The numbers don't lie: billionaire Dick Uihlein is spending millions of dollars to buy an election for Kevin Nicholson, because Uihlein wants a U.S. Senator who will work for him and his corporate special interest agenda that includes more tax breaks for big corporations and billionaires, phasing out health care programs, and deep cuts to Social Security," said Brad Bainum, DPW spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race.
Nicholson has welcomed Uihlein's support for months, and in return endorsed tax breaks for large corporations and billionaires like Uihlein, while also endorsing Uihlein's agenda that includes eliminating health care programs, raising the retirement age, and restructuring Social Security, including by reducing benefits.
