elderly-crowdOn Healthcare, Ron Johnson Has A Special Message for 250,000 Wisconsinites - You’re On Your Own!

MADISON - With the Supreme Court set to decide the anti-Obamacare lawsuit King v. Burwell, millions of Americans are at risk of losing their healthcare coverage and subsidies if the opponents of the Affordable Care Act prevail. Here in Wisconsin, nearly 250,000 people would lose healthcare coverage and nearly 300,000 would lose tax credits that make healthcare more affordable.

But when Ron Johnson was asked recently what he would propose to replace the Affordable Care Act, he offered no solution, instead making the elitist argument that health insurance itself was part of the problem, and suggesting that Wisconsinites should just be forced to buy individual services on their own: “We pay for insurance — we don’t pay for the products and services that insurance covers," said the wealthy Republican.

While millionaires like Ron Johnson have the resources to pay out of pocket directly for the best services money can buy, the overwhelming majority of Wisconsinites depend on insurance coverage that is affordable, especially those with pre-existing conditions or who have children under the age of 26.

“Out-of-touch millionaire and incumbent politician Ron Johnson has absurdly called the Affordable Care Act the ‘greatest assault on freedom in our lifetimes,’" Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Melissa Baldauff said Wednesday. “Yet after five years in Washington, all Ron Johnson has done is try to repeal the Affordable Care Act and waste federal resources suing the government with his frivolous anti-healthcare lawsuit. In 2016, Ron Johnson will have to answer for why he’s not standing up for working families in Wisconsin who rely on the Affordable Care Act for themselves, for their children, and for their economic security.”
