MADISON - The Wisconsin National Guard today released information regarding the work they have been doing to assist communities across Wisconsin since Gov. Tony Evers declared a public health emergency on March 12, 2020. That release is available here. This includes bringing online additional teams to assist in the state's efforts to increase testing capacity, as outlined by the Badger Bounce Back plan announced by the governor last week

tony_evers“From helping cruise ship passengers arrive home safely to assisting with increased testing, to helping establish alternative care facilities, the National Guard has played a critical role in the state's response to COVID-19 with hundreds of Citizen Soldiers and Airmen working on testing alone,” said Gov. Evers. “We are incredibly grateful for and proud of their service to our state.”

Approximately 225 troops have been mobilized to establish additional teams for testing and specimen collection across the state. The Wisconsin National Guard is standing up additional testing teams to establish mobile COVID-19 testing sites as part of the state's efforts to increase testing capacity statewide. Currently, more than 1,000 Citizen Soldiers and Airmen are serving in direct support of the state's response to COVID-19 in various roles.
