GREEN BAY - Senator Dave Hansen (D-Green Bay) announced today that he recently introduced a resolution in the State Senate with Senator Rob Cowles (R-Allouez) honoring the UWGB Phoenix Women’s basketball team for their accomplishments on and off the basketball court.

dave-hansen“This really is an amazing program and these are very talented and accomplished young women,” said Hansen adding he hopes the State Senate will take up the resolution during its March 20th floor session.

This season marks the team’s 20th consecutive regular-season conference championship and their 18th trip to the NCAA tournament. It’s also the 3rd time that the Phoenix posted 29 wins in a season under Head Coach Kevin Borseth.

“The program has really become a dynasty of sorts. They are definitely the team to beat in the Horizon League. I can’t say enough about their efforts and success and the type of individuals and competitors they are. They represent themselves, the university and our community extremely well. They are a real source of pride for our area.”

The Phoenix also captured their 16th tournament championship in the last 21 seasons by beating Wright State 62-44 in the championship game of the Horizon League tournament.
