MADISON - On Monday, Chippewa Valley Technical College was announced as the recipient of a $5 million grant from the US Department of Labor for the Interfacing Manufacturing Processes and Connecting Technologies (IMPACT) project.

This award, which was part of over $150 million in Department of Labor grants awarded throughout the country and announced by Vice President Biden and Department of Labor Secretary Perez, will help CVTC deliver broadband, advanced manufacturing, and IT training to youth and young adults in 40 counties across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois.

"This grant fills a growing need that we have for skilled IT, broadband, and advanced manufacturing professionals throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest," said Rep. Dana Wachs (D-Eau Claire) in a statement on Monday. "I have always been impressed by the work that CVTC does to prepare their students for the workforce, and this grant will allow them even greater opportunities to do so. Investing in higher education should be a priority for economic growth in Wisconsin, and I commend the partners who are working together to make IMPACT a success.”
