MADISON - I was up early this morning waiting to hear the John Doe decision from the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, and when I read it, I wanted to go back to bed. It’s awful, baseless, and dangerous, as we pointed out in our press release on it that we hustled out the door: Wisconsin Democracy Campaign Condemns State Supreme Court Ruling in John Doe II It was also a corrupt decision because the four conservative justices who shut down the John Doe benefited from enormous piles of money spent by the outside groups who were parties to the case, as we point out here: Biased Justices Ruled on Wisconsin John Doe Case This ruling should give momentum to the movement to amend our U.S. Constitution to say once and for all that corporations aren’t persons, and money isn’t speech, and we, through our elected officials, can regulate contributions and expenditures during campaigns. You can sign a petition to amend the Constitution here: I support a 28th Amendment! This week, the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign also filed a formal complaint against Friends of Scott Walker with the Government Accountability Board because its amended campaign report for Walker’s reelection is riddled with an unprecedented number of errors. Here’s the complaint: Walker campaign finance report riddled with errors I hope you appreciate these offerings.
