gb-city-hallGREEN BAY, WI - The City of Green Bay is seeking a Conservation Corps Coordinator to draft, manage, and execute all aspects of the Conservation Corps program grant.  This program seeks to leverage human capital to enhance the value of municipal ecological, recreational, and educational resources for generations to come.

Salary: $22.53 - $24.53 Hourly 

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of environmental issues, principles and practices of business management, grant administration, and possess strong communication skills with the ability to direct and supervise the work of assigned staff.

This is a limited-term position funded through a 1-year grant with possibility of extension.  

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m.-5:00 p.m., plus additional hours as required. 

No Residency Requirement.

Examples of Duties

1. Conduct department needs assessment to identify potential projects and/or programs within the Parks system that benefit conservation and volunteer coordination and opportunities.
2. Work with department staff to define the role and duties of AmeriCorps Members.
3. Manage an AmeriCorps program design process that meets AmeriCorps federal guidelines.
4. Create operating budget for an AmeriCorps program.
5. Identify needs and methods for training AmeriCorps members and volunteers.
6. Coordinate meetings with stakeholders to develop an AmeriCorps program to develop and maintain community relationships and linkages to assure program success.
7. Develop and execute systems for data tracking and documentation for the Conservation Grant.
8. Coordinate with department staff to develop marketing and volunteer resource tools.
9. Develop a public outreach and comprehensive plan for recruiting AmeriCorps Members.
10. Work with philanthropic organizations to explore opportunities that establishes and enhances the AmeriCorps program.
11. Coordinates all aspects of AmeriCorps grant management with each Division. (Forestry, Design and Development, Parks, Recreation, Wildlife Sanctuary).
12. Serves as a liaison between City of Green Bay and Serve Wisconsin.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 1-3 years experience in parks, environmental science, conservation, grant management or a related field.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license


A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Good knowledge of environmental issues and grant administration.
  • Good knowledge of the principles of business management and public administration.
  • Knowledge of federal program accounting procedures and regulations.
  • Display a positive attitude and passion for conservation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and the required software.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
  • Ability to work the required hours of the position.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the following activities:
  1. Lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  2. Frequent standing and sitting.
  3. Ability to focus for long period of time on projects.
  4. Ability to reach, stoop and lift.
